More than a passing sensation,
regardless of its stillness or its force, cold creates remembrance.

It stays in my memory as something gentle memories of cold eyelids, numb fingers, visible breath, and blurred vision.

I recall crisp waters springing, flowing fresh and pure through clouded mountains and icy suns,
warming the soul without touching the body.

Clear, sharp air, breaths so bound they hurt and free you at once.
Light warped in the mist, frozen metal that burns to the touch.

And the winds, those playful winds dancing and tuging at hair and clothes,
turn into cruel ones, too, that cut through every layer and sink into the bones.
